Newburgh residents have an opportunity to say what they think about a plan to dismantle a popular playground. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Town officials recently announced their plan to raze the Fortress of Fun.
A large volunteer effort built the playground, off Jefferson St., 25 years ago.
Residents with questions on the plan are invited to a Parks Board meeting Thursday evening at 6:00 at Newburgh’s Town Hall, at 23 W Jennings.
Officials say the wooden playground has been maintained well beyond its recommended time of usefulness, which was 10-to-15 years.
They say bricks and art pieces at the Fortress of Fun will be removed and made available to those who donated them.
The town says a new park master plan is being developed with a redesign and new amenities for the site.
