Wednesday February 7 is the annual Veteran’s Service Fair hosted by the Marion VA Health Care system; this fair is all about connecting veterans to health, well being and employment services

The fair is from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Evansville VFW Post 1114 located at 110 Wabash Avenue of Flags in Evansville.

Todd Wright is public affairs officer with Marion VA. He said this fair can connect them with “subject matter experts” for myriad services.

“… suicide prevention, mental health, I think advanced care planning Whole Health, which focuses on more the holistic sides of health care, Tai Chi, Yoga, acupuncture, chiropractic, those non traditional services,” Wright said. “Equal opportunity employment, minority veteran outreach, those types of things.”

Wright said this fair is for any veteran from the greater Evansville area, and there are likely services veterans aren’t familiar with that are available to them.

He added that they want to see all veterans — regardless of the severity or lack of severity of service time injuries.

“So even if they think that they don't deserve it, because maybe somebody is in more need than they are, that's the same person that we need in the room as well," he said. "So don't think that, you know, you're doing a favor by not requesting those services.”

Wright said there are also services available for spouses of, and caregivers of veterans.

If vets or family cannot attend, they can access many services via the various Marion County VA clinics and the website.

He said there are no forms or materials to bring, but if an attendee's DD 214 is handy it might speed things along.
