Fire has displaced two Evansville residents and claimed the lives of three pet dogs. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Firefighters were dispatched to 712 Sweetser Ave. at about 5:30 Monday morning.
EFD Division Chief Eric Eifert says firefighters found a 1 ½ car detached garage that was used as a workout space, a shop, and a shelter for the family dogs, engulfed in flames.
Crews extinguished the fire, but not before it destroyed the garage and damaged the nearby house.
Three dogs that were being kept in the garage perished.
The Red Cross was contacted and responded to help with two displaced adults in the house.
Center Point also responded to shut off utilities.
The fire is still under investigation.
