Trustees are not saying whether Matt Rowe was fired or left on his own

The Reitz Home Museum is looking for a new executive director. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

In a letter sent to supporters, trustees say the director’s seat, filled by Matt Rowe since 2011, became vacant January 25th.

The letter does not say whether Rowe was forced out or left on his own.

Trustees say a search committee has been formed to “identify the most qualified and appropriate candidate to continue the mission of preserving” the historic home-turned-museum on First St.

In the interim, the letter says the existing staff is still operating the museum.

Many vacant board positions have also been filled with community volunteers who the trustees say share the vision of the Reitz Home.

The letter also say trustees are committed to restoring abandoned fundraising events, improving the financial position of the museum, and increasing the visibility of the Reitz Home throughout the Greater Evansville Region.

The letter also thanked Reitz Home supporters.
