The Democrat says he's accepted a private sector job

A Vanderburgh County Commissioner is stepping down. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Not only is Democrat Ben Shoulders not seeking a third term this fall, he’s leaving the Board of Commissioners effective Friday.

Shoulders says he’s accepted a position in the private sector. He did not disclosed the new job.

In a release, Shoulders thanked supporters, colleagues, friends, family members, and fellow taxpayers.

He called it “an honor to serve our great county as a public servant.”

Shoulders also thanked fellow and former County Commissioners Bruce Ungethiem, Jeff Hatfield, Justin Elpers, and Cheryl Musgrave.

He says “together we've accomplished a great deal.”

Shoulders resignation comes just two weeks before the filing deadline for the May Primary.
