Propane is suspected in the explosion that killed David Baker, 66, in Dubois County

We now know the name of the man killed in a house explosion in Dubois County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The blast occurred Monday evening in the 2200 block of N. Hillham Road, between Jasper and French Lick.

Family members later identified the victim as 66-year-old David Baker.

The explosion leveled the house, sparked fires in a nearby wooded area, and caused minor damage to other homes.

Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours putting out the fires.

Officials say the explosion was heard for miles.

Indiana State Police say they contacted one of two people who live in the home, but the other was missing.

Searchers found Baker’s body yesterday (Tues).

There’s no word yet on the official cause of the explosion but officials are focusing on the home’s propane heating system.

The Indiana Fire Marshall’s Office was called in to investigate.
