Cold, Snow Prompt School Closings, Delays

The Evansville area will see another chance of snow Thursday

Bitter cold temperatures and slippery road conditions prompted school closings and delays on Tuesday. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Many schools in southwest Indiana started classes two hours late, while many schools in western Kentucky were either closed or conducting online classes.

Schools on delay included Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson counties.

Meanwhile, Henderson, Daviess (Davis), and Owensboro schools were among those in western Kentucky that are holding classes online.

Evansville received less than a half-inch of snow Sunday evening, but western Kentucky saw more significant accumulations and a little more snow Monday evening.

The main roads were in good shape in the Evansville area but you can expect snow and ice on untreated roads, including side streets.

Temperatures are expected to stay well below freezing, but we should “warm up” to near freezing tomorrow (Wed).

The National Weather Service says there is a chance of more snow Thursday and Thursday night, with another blast of colder air on Friday – with sub-zero wind chills.
