The company that owns the publication says it's fine with journalists unionizing

The company that owns the Evansville Courier and Press says it supports the staff’s right to unionize. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Gannett says it respects the right of employees at the Courier & Press to make “a fully informed choice to unionize or not.”

The communications company also says it strongly supports the National Labor Relations Board’s election process and has always participated in that process fairly and in good faith.

Gannett says central to the process is “a democratic election in which every employee’s voice is heard.”

The group of journalists at the Courier and Press joined The NewsGuild, which is part of the Communications Workers of America

The staff cites slashed resources and jobs -- and the prospect that nothing will change without action.
