Bucshon Will Not Run for an 8th Term

File
U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon

The congressman from Newburgh says the time has come to retire from Congress

U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon (boo-SHAWN) says he will retire at the end of this year. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

In a statement, the conservative Republican cited scripture in his decision to step down at the end of the 118th Congress.

Bucshon said "for everything there is a season" and it became clear to him over the holidays that the time has come to bring his season in public service to an end.

The Newburgh surgeon is serving his 7th term in the U.S. House, representing Indiana’s 8th District, which includes southwest and western Indiana.

As the son of an underground coal miner and a nurse who grew up in rural America, Bucshon says it’s been “the privilege of a lifetime” and he thanked his constituents for placing their trust in him.

With Bucshon out of the race, candidates have about a month to file for Indiana’s May Primary.

The filing deadline for is February 9th.
