A man who represented southern Indiana in Congress and the Statehouse has died. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Philip Hayes represented the 8th District from 1975-to-1977.
The Democrat also served in the Indiana Senate from 1971-to-1974.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he’s saddened to hear the news of Hayes’ passing.
Winnecke called him “a long-time friend and the source of sage political advice and encouragement.”
Current 8th District Representative Larry Bucshon called Hayes “a devoted public servant who possessed an unwavering commitment to the people of Indiana.”
Former Congressman Philip Hayes was 83 years old.
