Warrick Animal Control Leader Arrested

ISP
Danielle Barnes, 55

ISP: Danielle Barnes, 55, is accused of using taxpayer money to buy drugs that police found in her home

Police have arrested the former head of Warrick County’s Animal Control office. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Indiana State Police arrested 55-year-old Danielle Barnes after a search of her Chandler home on Wednesday.

The ISP says troopers found 25 vials of drugs used to treat animals.

Barnes is accused of misappropriating funds from Warrick County Animal Control to obtain the drugs.

She faces charges of Theft and Possession of a Legend Drug.

Barnes' arrest came one day after Warrick County Commissioners fired the head of the county’s health department, Aaron Franz, who oversaw Animal Control.

Commissioners said the number of animals euthanized by Animal Control increased in recent months after the department cut ties with several non-profits and volunteer groups.

The ISP says its investigation continues.
