Drivers in Henderson will start using a new Highway 41 bridge this weekend. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, it’s part of a much bigger bridge project:
Part of the new U.S. 41 overpass-bridge built this year at KY 351 – or 2nd Street -- opens this Saturday.
Officials say southbound traffic will shift from the existing bridge to the new, partially constructed overpass.
Two lanes will remain open to traffic in each direction, but lane widths are reduced during construction.
Drivers are asked to stay alert as they adjust to the new traffic pattern.
Crews are building two new overpass bridges at the site as part of Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.
Work on the four-lane toll bridge connecting Evansville and Henderson is expected to start in 2027 and finish in 2031.
