A water main ruptured in Downtown Evansville Tuesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
It happened shortly before noon at the intersection of Sycamore and 5th streets, in an area where crews have been working on a major sewer project.
City utility crews were sent to the scene to repair the leak.
Brown water temporarily flooded the intersection and left mud on the streets.
It’s not clear what caused the rupture.
Traffic was already blocked in the area for the sewer work and the detour will continue.
A boil water advisory was not been issued as of early Tuesday afternoon.
