You’ll soon have an opportunity to tour Evansville’s Coliseum, celebrate its history, and learn about its future. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
Vanderburgh County and the committee leading the Coliseum’s restoration effort have scheduled the open house for Sunday, December 10th.
The historic venue, officially called the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum, will host the free, family-friendly event.
Officials say light refreshments will be served and Santa Claus will attend, ready to spread holiday cheer and greet kids of all ages.
County Commissioners learned in March that a renovation of the 110-year-old coliseum will cost about $30 million.
That’s more than officials were anticipating and they’ve been seeking funding sources.
The venue currently hosts events including bingo and semi-pro wrestling.
Evansville Civic Theatre plans to move to the Coliseum when the renovations are complete.
