The Woodmere facility is planned for the State Hospital Grounds on Evansville's East Side

Officials will break ground Tuesday for a new dog park on Evansville’s East Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:

Dirt will be turned at 10:00 A.M., officially starting construction of the Woodmere Dog Park on the State Hospital Grounds, off Lincoln Ave.

On its Facebook page, the private-public partnership says the project will improve quality of life and quality of place for both dogs and their owners.

Woodmere says it will increase exercise and social connectivity.

Plans for the dog park have also been adjusted to not affect the disc golf course on the grounds.

The park will have a member fee, which will be used to maintain the dog park. Time will also be set aside for non-members to use the park.
