Another Contract Awarded for I-69 ORX

I-69 Ohio River Crossing

Walsh Construction and Traylor Bros. win $202 million contract for I-69 Bridge

Officials say another key milestone has been met for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The Indiana Department of Transportation has awarded the contract for Section Three of the project to ORX Constructors -- a joint venture that includes Traylor Bros and Walsh Construction.

INDOT says the nearly $202 million dollar contract includes approach roadways and bridges on the Indiana side of the Ohio River.

Gov. Eric Holcomb says construction will start next year in Evansville.

Work is already underway in the Henderson area.

Holcomb says the I-69 Ohio River Crossing will “further connect Indiana and Kentucky and create regional economic opportunities for decades to come.”

Plans call for a four-lane toll bridge across the river, just east of the current Twin Bridges.

One of the Twin Bridges is expected to be demolished. The other will be kept for two lanes of local traffic.

The new bridge is slated to open in 2031.
