Mary Bower will step down May 31st

The head of the Evansville Museum will retire next year. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Executive Director Mary Bower is planning to step down at the end of May.

The museum’s board president, Adam Borgman, says “Mary’s knowledge, dedication and leadership to both the Museum and the Evansville community have been extraordinary for more than four decades.”

Bower calls it an “honor of a lifetime” to lead the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science.

The Board approved conferring the honorary title of Director Emerita to Bower effective her retirement date.

Bower is in her 45th year with the Evansville Museum, began her career in Evansville after graduating with a degree in art history from Illinois State University.

She was this year’s recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award.
