Congressman Larry Bucshon voted with the majority to avoid a partial government shutdown this weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The 8th District Republican called House Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan a responsible way to avoid a shutdown and continue working to finalize the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations process through regular order.
Bucshon says it’s “imperative that House Republicans are in the best position to negotiate and fight for conservative wins” as they work to finalize this year’s appropriations bills.
The House voted 336-to-95 to approve the unusual two-tier spending bill to keep some government offices open through mid-January while others would operate through the beginning of February.
The Senate is expected to vote on the measure later this week.
