A collision with a deer led to a seven-vehicle pileup on I-69 in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The sheriff’s office says it happened at about 5:30 Sunday evening on the interstate, north of Lynch Road.

Investigators say the sequence of crashes began when a pickup truck hit a deer in the southbound lanes.

They say the crash caused the truck to lose all power so the driver was unable to activate its hazard lights.

Without that warning for approaching traffic, deputies say the pickup was struck from behind causing a pile up that damaged seven vehicles in all.

The crash caused mostly minor injuries, but two motorists were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Southbound traffic was restricted to one lane for about thirty minutes during clean up.

A total of five cars were towed from the scene.
