The tall, wide spruce will be decorated and lighted this week

The city of Evansville’s official Christmas tree has arrived at the Civic Center. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

A truck delivered the 32-foot Norway spruce Monday morning with a police escort.

The mayor’s office says the tree will be decorated with about 25,000 lights that were donated by Advanced Network and Computer Services.

It will be topped with a lighted “e.”

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will light the tree during a ceremony in front of the Civic Center Thursday evening at 5:00.

The Bosse High School Choir will perform, and the mayor will offer some remarks before starting the countdown to turn on the lights.

The public is welcome to attend the event.

Sterling Industrial Contractors donated the crew and equipment to cut down the tree.

It will remain on display through the holiday season and be removed sometime after New Year’s Day.
