The Area Plan Commission has rejected a planned truck stop in northern Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Love’s wants to build a gas station-restaurant complex at I-69 and State Road 57.
Love’s says the $17 million investment would create 57 jobs.
But nearby residents spoke against the project, and the Plan Commission rejected the rezoning request on a vote of 7-3.
Media reports say residents raised concerns about increased truck traffic, light pollution, and possible ground water pollution.
The area plan commission’s vote is only a recommendation.
Vanderburgh County Commissioners will have the final say on the project.
