Firefighters rescued the resident early Monday

A man is in critical but stable condition at a Louisville hospital after a house fire in Haubstadt. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The blaze broke out early Monday in the 100 block of North Vine Street in Gibson County town.

Neighbors reportedly knocked on doors and windows to try to wake the occupant.

The Haubstadt Fire Territory says its crews rescued the man from the burning house.

He received treatment on-scene and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to the burn unit at University of Louisville Hospital.

His name was not released.

Fire officials say the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.

There’s no word yet on how it started.
