The National Weather Service issued a Freeze Warning for Monday night

After a rainy, chilly weekend, the Tri-State can expect sub-freezing temperatures this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The National Weather Service recorded nearly two inches of needed rain over the weekend.

Forecasters say it will be followed by the coldest weather of the season, so far.

They’ve issued a Freeze Warning for the Evansville area Monday night, with overnight temperatures expected in the mid-to-upper 20s.

The warning will be in effect from 9:00 tonight until 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters suggest taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

They note the freezing temps will end the growing season.
