The Arts Council praised the foundation's decades of philanthropy

The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana has announced the winner of this year’s Mayor’s Arts Award. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The recipient of the 2023 award is the Koch Foundation.

The Arts Council cites what it calls the foundation’s “remarkable philanthropic contributions to the arts community.”

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Arts Council Executive Director Anne McKim will present the award at the Evansville Museum Gala Saturday, November 4.

In a release, McKim says the Koch Foundation earned the accolade based on more than six decades of commitment to philanthropy and unwavering support for the Evansville area arts community.

The foundation’s contributions have provided essential upgrades to the Evansville Museum, including HVAC enhancements to provide climate control for the Museum’s permanent collection, roof replacement of the Museum’s 1959 Wing, the handmade bronze and steel Millennial Gate by local artist William Leth, and the establishment of the Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium.
