The advisory followed damage to a water main

A boil water advisory has been issued for an area west of Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The German Township Water District says the advisory area includes Old Highway 62 from Ford Road to W. Franklin Road, south to Smith Diamond Road, and east to Posey County Line Road.

Customers in that area should bring tap water to a complete boil for at least five minutes before using it for cooking or drinking until the advisory is lifted.

The water district issued the advisory after a water main was damaged in the area of W Franklin and Farm Way roads.

It caused a temporary drop in water pressure or a complete service interruption, creating a possibility of contamination.

Update: The boil advisory was lifted on Friday, Sept. 29.
