A project that Evansville residents have demanded for decades will finally begin next Thursday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Indiana Department of Transportation will conduct a kickoff ceremony for a planned U.S. 41 pedestrian bridge near Bosse High School.
INDOT says the long-awaited project will provide students and other pedestrians a way to safely cross 41 near Washington Avenue.
The intersection has seen numerous accidents over the years, many involving pedestrians.
The $5 million project calls for a truss-style bridge, with aesthetic elements including an "e" that resembles the city's "e is for everyone" motto and a “B” for Bosse.
Officials from INDOT, Bosse High School, the City of Evansville, the contractor, and consultant partners are expected to attend the ceremony.
