A man is dead following an incident at an Evansville manufacturing plant. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Authorities say 59-year-old Christopher Payton died after being injured on the job at Silgan Closures.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says Payton was hurt while working on a machine at the plant on W. Maryland St.

Coroner Steve Lockyear says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to document the victim’s injuries.

The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the incident and will investigate, along with other responding agencies.

Silgan makes lids and caps for food and beverages.
