Schriber, 78, died after a long battle with heart disease

A well-known Evansville teacher, arts supporter, and candidate for city council has died. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Jack Schriber instilled an appreciation of the arts in many students during his years at Central High School.

He was also a strong supporter of the area’s arts scene.

Evansville First Lady Carol McClintock called Schriber a “dear friend” with “a wicked sense of humor and caring spirit.”

She said he will be missed.

Schriber attended Bosse High School and the University of Evansville.

He ran for a city council seat in 2015 but suspended his campaign after admitting he had an inappropriate relationship with a student decades earlier.

Jack Schriber was 78 years old and had been battling heart disease.
