Mike Connelly is retiring after 29 years at the department

Evansville’s Fire Chief is calling it a career. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The mayor’s office says Mike Connelly has submitted his resignation as Fire Chief so he can retire from the department.

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he’s grateful for what he calls Connelly’s “29 years of dedicated service.”

Winnecke has appointed Paul Anslinger as Fire Chief, effective immediately.

The mayor asked the citizens of Evansville to join him in supporting Anslinger in the new role.

Winnecke is stepping down as Mayor at the end of the year.
