The local arts community is mourning the loss of Terry Becker. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Becker worked with the University of Evansville, the New Harmony Theater, and the Under the Beams series.
He also served as musical director for countless EVSC, Signature School, and Civic Theatre productions.
Becker died this week after a bicycle accident. He was 75.
Becker’s obituary from Dignity Memorial also cites his extraordinary keyboard skills that made him a highly sought after pianist and organist in the Tri-State.
Numerous social media posts from Becker’s former students speak of the impact he had on their lives.
Marcia Frellick described herself as “heartsick” about the loss of what she called a “life-shaping teacher, mentor and friend.”
Frellick said Becker gave “awkward teenagers the confidence to act and sing.”
She noted her brothers went on to careers in drama.
Visitation for Terry Becker is from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Alexander East Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Evansville.
Becker’s funeral service is planned for noon Saturday at First Presbyterian.
