Firefighters Battle Heat, Stubborn Fire
The blaze damaged Tri-State Resource Recovery at Morgan Ave. and Harriet St.
Evansville firefighters dealt with heat and humidity as they battled a stubborn fire at a recycling plant. WNIN”s John Gibson reports:
Crews were dispatched to Tri-State Resource Recovery at Morgan Ave. and Harriet St. at about 7:20 Friday morning.
They reported a “working fire” and Central Dispatch sent more fire units to the scene.
Due to the hot and muggy weather, EFD chiefs implemented a rotation plan to limit firefighters’ time inside the building.
Crews also broke windows to help ventilate smoke from the building.
Employees reportedly evacuated before firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.
There’s no word yet on how the fire started.
