Evansville Looking for Christmas Tree

File

The city tree will stand outside the Civic Center during the holiday season

Christmas is more than four months away but the city of Evansville is already starting the search for a tree. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke posted a Facebook video of Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer watering a very small tree outside the Civic Center, as if it would grow tall in time for the holiday season.

Winnecke addressed the camera:

Winnecke: "Can you help us find a beautiful Christmas tree to represent our city's Christmas spirit? We need your help. If not, we're going to have to use Steve's tree." Schaefer: "It's a good tree."

The city’s tree needs to be a solid evergreen, more than 20 feet tall, and firm on all sides.

It will be erected and decorated outside the Civic Center, where it will stand through the holiday season.

Interested tree owners should contact the mayor’s office.
