Dubois County Cleaning Up After Tornado

File

The twister hit near Haysville early Monday

They’re cleaning up storm damage in Dubois County, after a tornado struck early Monday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 twister moved through the county, north of Jasper, before moving into Orange County.

The Dubois County Emergency Management Agency has set up temporary sites for debris removal, including one at Haysville Park South Field, which includes a drop-off for tree limbs and branches, a construction debris dumpster, and a dumpster for metal debris.

Construction debris is also being accepted at the corner of County Road 960-East and State Highway 56, as well as at 5080 N. State Road 545.

The collection sites are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM through next Wednesday, August 16th.

Any wooden debris in the county’s right of way should be placed next to the county roadway for pick up.

Officials say if items can be cut into smaller than 8-foot lengths, it is appreciated.

Open burning of storm debris, like treated lumber or construction debris is illegal with the exception of clean untreated wood and tree limbs.

More: Property owners are encouraged to contact their local fire chief before burning wooden debris.

Residents of Dubois County are asked to contact Indiana 211 to report severe storm damage.
