U.S. Senator Todd Young of Indiana is cheering a bipartisan bill to boost organ donations. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Before Congress began its August recess, the Senate passed the Securing the U.S. Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Act.
Young says the legislation will help break up what he calls “the monopoly contract” that currently manages the network.
Young says the bill includes “necessary reforms” to ensure accountability and transformation in the organ donation and transplant system.
Most importantly, he added it will save lives.
The bill now heads to President Biden for his signature after passing both the House and Senate last week.
