Fire has displaced 10 residents on Evansville’s Southeast Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Firefighters were called to the duplex at 1427 Jeanette Ave. shortly before 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.
They found smoke and flames coming from an exterior wall, from the eves, and attic area.
The occupants got out safely.
EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says firefighters quickly knocked down the flames, but overhaul was extensive and heat and humidity required extra rehab and precautions for firefighters.
The fire was considered extinguished in about 30 minutes.
The Red Cross was requested for occupants of both apartments, totaling ten people.
Utilities were disconnected to both apartments due to the damage.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
