Tri-State Gets Break from Severe Storms

NWS

It may not last long with more storms possible as soon as Independence Day

The Tri-State is drying out after four straight days of severe storms. WNIN’s John Gibson has a recap:

The storms downed trees, limbs, and power lines, damaging homes and vehicles, and putting a dent in the drought conditions.

The National Weather Service measured more than four inches of rain over the four-day period.

CenterPoint Energy says before Sunday afternoon’s storms, the company had restored power to more than 50,000 customers.

The utility says the line of storms that moved through Sunday caused more damage and led to another 4,500 outages in southwest Indiana.

As of early Monday morning, crews had reduced the number of customers in the dark to less than 200.

The National Weather is calling for a slight chance of thunderstorms on Independence Day, with better chances on Wednesday and Thursday.
