A police officer and a suspect are dead after gunfire at the Perry County Hospital. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Indiana State Police say Tell City Police Sgt. Heather Glenn was among officers that responded to the hospital early today (Mon), when 34-year-old Sean Hubert was reportedly headed there.
Hubert was wanted for assaulting a female victim who was being treated at the hospital.
The ISP says Sgt. Glenn made contact and attempted to arrest Hubert but he refused to comply.
Investigators say Glenn attempted to deploy an electronic weapon but it was ineffective.
During a brief struggle, the ISP says Hubert produced a firearm and shot Sgt. Glenn
Tell City and Cannelton officers returned fire and shot Hubert.
Sergeant Glenn and Hubert were both treated at the hospital and died from their injuries.
The ISP says Glenn worked for the Perry County Sheriff's Office and Tell City Police Department for nearly 20 years.
Police Chief Derrick Lawalin described Glenn as a good friend to everyone and will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
The shooting prompted Perry County Hospital to suspend its services except for emergencies.
