Ozone Alert Issued for Saturday

IDEM: bright sun, hot temps, light wind could be an unhealthy mix

Officials are again warning of unhealthy air across much of Indiana. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Saturday in six regions, including southwest Indiana.

Bright sunshine, hot temperatures, and light winds are expected to create unhealthy levels of ground-level ozone.

Sensitive groups -- including children, the elderly, and anyone with lung or heart conditions – are advised to limit exertion outdoors.

IDEM encourages everyone to help reduce ozone by driving less, avoid idling, and wait to refuel your vehicle or use gasoline-powered lawn equipment until the evening.

We’re also urged to conserve energy at home and at the workplace.
