The agency has issued a Air Quality Alert for Satruday

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared Saturday an Air Quality Action Day in southwest Indiana. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Despite the haze from Canadian wildfires, IDEM is more concerned about high levels of ozone, not smoke.

The agency says a dry, sunny, weather pattern with light winds will allow ozone to build on Saturday to a level that’s unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Children, the elderly, and anyone with heart or lung conditions should reduce or avoid exertion outdoors. IDEM encourages everyone to take steps to reduce ozone: Drive less, avoid refueling your vehicle or using gasoline-powered lawn equipment until after 7 p.m., and conserve energy in your home or business.
