The University of Evansville is turning to competitive video gaming as a way to attract students. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
UE has announced the launch of an on-campus collegiate Esports program.
In a release, the university says it will be a “promising avenue to attract new students, integrate future academic offerings, and enhance student engagement on campus.”
Organized video gaming typically involves multiple players in a league or tournament, and is one of the fastest growing industries in the world.
UE's Esports Center will be installed inside a renovated two-story lounge at Schroeder (SHRAY-der) Residence Hall, and will offer space for team practice, competitive play, and open play.
If all goes well, the University says it may expand the space within the Esports Center.
