The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has extended the statewide Air Quality Alert through Friday. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
IDEM says a stagnant weather pattern continues to carry smoke from Canadian wildfires across Indiana.
And the agency warns air quality may continue to be affected over the weekend.
Children, the elderly, and anyone with lung or heart conditions are especially at risk.
IDEM encourages everyone to help reduce harmful particulates by not starting any unnecessary fires.
You’re also urged to reduce outdoor activities, avoid using gasoline-powered lawn equipment or gas-powered recreational vehicles, and conserve energy at home and the workplace.
