Volunteers to Install Free Smoke Alarms

File

The Red Cross will lead the effort on Saturday, May 13, in Evansville

The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help install free smoke alarms next weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Experts say having a working smoke alarm in your home can cut the risk of death in half.

For that reason, the Red Cross and community members will install smoke detectors and provide home fire safety training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13th.

Volunteers will meet at the Tepe Park Clubhouse at 1212 South Garvin Street in Evansville.

The agency’s Home Fire Campaign says it has installed 2.5 million free smoke alarms and made one million households safer across the country.
