Students from Evansville and Huntingburg are winners of the 2023 Eighth District Congressional Art Competition. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Congressman Larry Bucshon says a painting by Kori Leverenz of Signature School called “Bird Dogs” took first prize.
The colorful painting depicts two men and three dogs hunting in a wooded area.
Leverenze will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C. for the Congressional Art Competition Reception and her artwork will be displayed in the Capitol Building for a year.
The Eighth District People’s Choice Award winner was “Tears on the Red, White, and Blue” by Southridge High School student Zoe Booth.
Booth’s painting depicts a person crying while wrapped in an American flag. It received more than 200 likes on Congressman Bucshon’s Facebook page.
