Bucshon Helps Pass GOP Debt Ceiling Bill

File

8th District Congressman voted with a slim majority to approve the measure

Indiana 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon voted with a slim majority in the U.S. House to pass the GOP debt ceiling bill. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Warrick County Republican says the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 will responsibly raise the debt ceiling by limiting what he calls “Washington’s irresponsible spending.”

Bucshon says it will save taxpayer dollars and grow the American economy.”

The measure passed the House 217-to-215 with a handful of Republicans and all Democrats voting against it.

It raises the nation's borrowing authority by $1.5 trillion, or through March 2024 — whichever comes first.

But it rolls back spending levels for most federal programs to those in place two years ago, and it limits the growth of federal spending to 1% a year.

The bill is expected to go nowhere in the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate.
