Tri-State Faces Another Tornado Threat

NWS

The NWS has issued a Tornado Watch

Severe storms, including tornadoes, are possible in the Tri-State Wednesday. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Evansville area, in effect until 4:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters say strong storms in advance of a cold front could spawn dangerous twisters -- less than a week after severe storms caused death and destruction in the Midwest and South.

One of those tornadoes claimed three lives in Sullivan County, Indiana, about 80 miles north of Evansville.

The weather service has also issued a Wind Advisory for the Evansville area Wednesday, with non-storm wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour.

Forecasters say winds will be much stronger in severe thunderstorms.
