The National Weather Service urges Tri-State residents to stay alert for watches and warnings

The Tri-State faces a potential outbreak of severe storms Friday, including tornadoes. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service is predicting scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Forecasters say a few long-track tornadoes are possible, mainly from southeast Missouri, across southern Illinois, and into southwest Kentucky.

Storms with large hail and damaging winds are also possible.

The weather service has issued a Wind Advisory for this afternoon and tonight, with non-storm gusts up to 45 mph.

Forecasters urge residents to stay alert for weather watches and warnings.
