The two Republican candidates for Evansville Mayor fielded questions for an Election 2023 special that airs at 7:30 this evening on WNIN Channel 9. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
Cheryl Musgrave touted her experience as Vanderburgh County Assessor and her current position as County Commission President.
Musgrave said one of her greatest accomplishments is the commission’s private-public partnership for rural broadband:
"Everyone in the county — in the unincorporated county — will have the opportunity at their home or at their business to have the highest speed of internet possible."
Natalie Rascher touted her career in the private sector:
"Deaconess Hospital, I've been a contractor for Vectren, an adjunct faculty member at USI, and then ultimately landing my career in public accounting. And all of those skills are transferable to the mayor’s office."
Both Musgrave and Rascher said public safety is a priority. The Fraternal Order of Police endorsed Musgrave.
County Councilwoman Stephanie Terry is unopposed on the Democratic ballot.
Early voting for the May 2nd primary begins next week.
