IN, KY Agree to Move Forward with I-69 Bridge

ORX 69

The two states have signed a preliminary agreement for Section 2 of the project, which includes construction of the four-lane bridge

Officials say a bi-state agreement between Indiana and Kentucky for the planned the I-69 bridge over the Ohio River is a step closer to reality. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The states have signed an initial Memorandum of Agreement to allow preliminary development and financial planning for Section 2 of the project.

Section 1 work is already underway in the Henderson area.

In a release, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb called it a “generational project” that will improve connectivity for all Hoosiers.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear called the I-69 bridge a “top priority” and says the agreement is a “critical first step” toward construction of the bridge.

This initial phase of Section 2 will focus on preliminary engineering services, cost estimates, right-of-way plans, traffic and revenue forecasting, and other services.

Plans call for a four-lane toll bridge east of the existing Twin Bridges, with a completion date of 2031.
