Deaconess is easing its mask requirements. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The health system says it's changing the guidelines to reflect lower rates of respiratory infection among the community, patients, and staff.
Visitors will not be required to wear a mask at all times, but Deaconess says it will continue to require masking in certain areas, and limit visitors to protect vulnerable patients in its hospitals and clinics.
The health system says patient safety remains a priority, pointing out that people have a choice about whether to go to the grocery store, church, or other gatherings, but they do not have a choice about receiving medical care. Deaconess says its Infection Prevention & Control staff and hospital leadership will continue to closely monitor for signs of increased spread of illness among patients and staff.
If respiratory infection rates increase, masking may be reinstated in more areas.
