Fire Damages House on Elliott St.

Steve Burger

The Sunday morning fire is under investigation

Evansville firefighters extinguished a house fire on Sunday. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Crews were dispatched to 808 N. Elliott Street at about 8:30 Sunday morning when police officers on patrol reported smoke coming from the house.

The first firefighters on the scene reported flames coming from second-story windows.

Division Chief Mike Larson says crews entered through the back of the home and found the bulk of the fire was in the west end of the house at the top of the interior stairs.

Larson said extensive overhaul was required upstairs and firefighters had to cut holes in the roof for ventilation.

The fire was considered extinguished in about 20 minutes.

There was no word of any injuries or displaced residents.

The fire is under investigation.
